The Avid Sequel
turntable uses many of the unique design elements of the
much acclaimed Acutus table at a more affordable price.
In brief this is a belt drive, sprung subchassis design.
Built to the same standards as the Acutus turntable and
incorporating a similar clamping, suspension, bearing
systems and power supply design. Vibration caused by the stylus during playback is transmitted to the subchassis directly through the bearing and not absorbed into the platter. This is achieved using a unique matting material and clamping system. External vibrations are isolated by the unique Avid suspension system. A purpose designed electronic power supply in a separate chassis coupled to a high torque motor, drives the heavy 5kg platter. Avid tables can operate at 33 1/3 and 45 rpm with the touch of a button. They can be set-up with Rega or SME tonearm assemblies. An SME is pictured here. |
